Trump's 'Year One' ignites on the cover of Time

The manager of Books & Company said she, like many in her position across Canada, did not expect much interest in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, a salacious tell-all by American journalist Michael Wolff.

Still, Trump thanked the journalists in front of him, joking: "You've gotten very familiar with this room".

The book, which is based on Mr Wolff's time spent in the White House after the businessman's shock election past year, was due to be released at the end of the month, but publishers Little Brown brought the launch forward.

"Fair question, and I'll tell you what happened", Wolff said.

"Saying 'knowingly false things while the money pours into your bank account?' Not only is that Trump's business plan in its entirety - it's literally what they're going to write on his headstone: 'He knowingly said false things while money poured into his bank accounts, '" he added.

Asked for examples of letters received from news anchors, the White House said it had received "private communications". "And I think what the American people want to see is fairness".

President Donald Trump on Wednesday vowed to take a "strong look" at the nation's libels laws in the wake of the publication of the best-selling "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", which portrays him as a dysfunctional leader presiding over an administration in chaos.

However, President Trump appears to have won the war of words, after North and South Korea held rare formal talks Wednesday. The White House has been quick to suggest that the book is a work of fiction.

Let me not go there. But one of Trump's other attorneys, Michael Cohen, filed a separate suit against BuzzFeed on Tuesday over the site's publication of the Russian Federation dossier past year.

According to The Washington Post, Trump has made about 2,000 false or misleading statements since taking office. The president clearly believed that he deserved it again previous year - but says he refused to sit for a photo shoot unless he was guaranteed to be chosen. He pressed the case again on Sunday, tweeting: "I've had to put up with the Fake News from the first day I announced that I would be running for President". I've just written a book. The other luxury is I get to sit back and watch and absorb and produce a story.

"This is Donald Trump saying this - truly a man without credibility", he said.

Mr Trump has dismissed and derided the book and its author, and yet Fire and Fury continues to have a scorching impact across the US.
