Former Buffaloes star Bieniemy named Chiefs' offensive coordinator

Matt Nagy, an All-American quarterback for DE during a record-breaking career in 1997-2000 and most recently the offensive coordinator for the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs, was named head coach of the Chicago Bears on Monday. The former Chiefs offensive coordinator was officially welcomed to the team in a news conference Tuesday at Halas Hall.

Bieniemy has spent five seasons with the Chiefs, joining the franchise when Reid was hired as the head coach. Bieniemy is being promoted after serving five seasons under Reid as the Chiefs running backs coach. The Vikings gave him a five-year run in this role under Brad Childress from 2006-2010, and Childress coming to Kansas City played a role in Bieniemy following suit in 2013.

"I've known Eric a long time, both as a player and a coach", Reid said in a statement released by the team. He's a great teacher and has earned this opportunity. Bieniemy rushed for 3,940 yards in his four-year career at Colorado, including 41 touchdowns, and was named an All-American in the Buffs' 1990 national championship season. "I know he will do a good job". He played running back for nine seasons with San Diego, Cincinnati and Philadelphia.
