Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males

Damore, who garnered national attention after releasing a memo that questioned whether Google's hiring practices geared toward bringing more women into its workforce was practicable, was joined in the lawsuit by former Google employee David Gudeman.

Two former Google employees have filed a class-action lawsuit Monday against Google, with the allegation that the company discriminates against conservative white men, The Hill reported.

James Damore says Google fired him over his political views, conservative thought and because he is a white man, according to a class action filed in Santa Clara Superior Court. The memo sparked a conversation about sexism in Silicon Valley, which some say is omnipresent.

This newspaper reached out to Google and this post will be updated. "As someone who is generally on the "correct" side of this liberal echo chamber, it hasn't affected me much, but I think the vehemence of the reaction to his document proves this point right".

Engineer James Damore's memo, which was leaked this fall, criticized Google's "left leaning" culture and attempted to argue that women in engineering were paid less than men due to their biological differences, not because of hiring practices.

But while he wanted more diversity of viewpoints, he wasn't so kind to diversity when it came to gender.

"(Google applies) illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas-in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others."

The complaint seeks monetary damages as well as an injunction against conservative discrimination on the part of Google.

A representative for Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
