Health officials say the flu has become widespread in Utah

According to ODH, the start of this year's flu season in OH appears to be similar to the start of the 2014-2015 fly season when there were 50 more hospitalizations on the last week of the year.

These higher-risk patients will have priority in Cottage Hospitals emergency departments, the hospital said.

The news comes as the United Kingdom is in the grip of the current flu season, with rates of primary care consultations and hospitalisations increasing week by week. The U.S. approved the shot under the FDA's accelerated approval program in late 2015.

We are learning emergency rooms across the Tri-State are overrun by cases of the flu.

Lisa Sharp, a spokesman for the Sequoyah County Health Department, said the county does not have the latest figures for the county, but she referenced the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) where Sequoyah County was listed as of December 28 as having two cases of flu that required hospitalization.

The warning, which covers Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, will be in place from 6pm tonight until 6pm tomorrow (Wednesday). Forecasters say some coastal areas could be affected by large waves as it combines with a period of high tides.

During this same week a year ago only twelve states had reported widespread flu activity.

"Many people feel that all of the available vaccines for influenza in the United States can actually cause the flu", he said.

"If people have any type of flu like symptom-coughing-any symptoms at all-we ask them to wear a mask", said Rogers. He said things will likely get worse before improving. "Thirty percent protection is still better than zero". Only three people died of the flu in the same time period a year ago.

"It turns out that that's about as good the flu vaccine has always been", he said.

"If you have symptoms of the flu, stay home", Rogers stressed. Hand sanitizer is good, too, but it doesn't replace hand washing.
