Mad Catz Return, New Products On The Way

Mad Catz' return can be seen more as a revolution than a revival, if you're a longtime fan.

Mad Catz was always a highly respected name in gaming accessories, not least for its excellent arcade fighting stick controllers and R.A.T. gaming mice, but thanks to cash problems and mismanagement it all went south for the company nearly a year ago.

Mad Catz have now returned to the PC peripherals game, albeit under new management.

Mad Catz are also touting new STRIKE keyboards, FREQ headsets, and GLIDE gaming surfaces once these products launch.

With CES 2018 being the place Mad Catz will be previewing the first products in its new range.

Mad Catz Returns Following Bankruptcy

The wireless mouse, the R.A.T. Air, draws power from an included mousepad. From the brief glimpses you get in the teaser video, you can see that it's a rather restrained design; it's black on black with white legends, with only a funky graphic on the front bezel for sizzle.

Most gamers remember Mad Catz as the company behind numerous...cheaper versions for most console controllers, so it's likely that company will have a bit of work ahead of them as they strive to re-market themselves as a seller of high-quality goods. However, the products will be the start of a more humble version of the company that went bankrupt. There's a wireless power system involved-a growing trend, it seems, in the mouse world. Lastly, the F.R.E.Q. 4 gaming headset implements high-quality 40mm neodymium drivers and includes a metal plated.

More details regarding these new peripherals will be unveiled by the company at CES 2018, which runs from January 9 through 12.

The company's return is of course heralded by a new line of gear.

KitGuru Says: It was a sad day when Mad Catz filed for bankruptcy but it looks like the peripheral maker has found its second life. Mad Catz has been a permanent fixture in gaming for nearly three decades and we firmly believe its best days lie ahead, ' claims Selena Chang, Mad Catz' incoming director of sales and operations.
