USA threatens to cut UNRWA funding unless Palestinians engage in peace talks

Trump added more fuel to the fire on Twitter by saying that the United States pays "hundreds of millions dollars a year" to the Palestinians and that Jerusalem, "the toughest part of the negotiation", is "off the table".

"We all know that's complete nonsense", she said.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told reporters at a briefing held at the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday that President Donald Trump has decided there will be no more funding from the United States for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), until Ramallah returns to the peace process.

"It takes great bravery for the Iranian people to use the power of their voice against their government, especially when their government has a long history of murdering its own people who dare to speak the truth", Haley said.

During her speech, Haley further pressed the global community to support the Iranian people.

"The global community made the mistake of failing to do that in 2009".

Haley declared that the protest are in "virtually in every city in Iran" and that they are calling for the "freedoms that are enshrined in the United Nations charter".

"The people of Iran are crying out for freedom", Haley said at a news conference.

The offer for high-level talks next Tuesday had been discussed with the United States, the South's unification minister said, while a decision on whether to push back a massive joint military drill between South Korea and the United States until after the Winter Olympics was pending. "But if it does, we must bring even more measures to bear on the North Korean regime", Nikki Haley said at the UN's NY headquarters. In 2009, the Green Revolution saw thousands of protesters in Iran taking to the streets to contest the recent reelection of president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. All freedom-loving people must stand with their cause. So we applaud the tremendous courage of the Iranian people. "We won't take any of the talks seriously if they don't do something to ban all nuclear weapons in North Korea", Haley said. "We need to also organize an worldwide response". We're going to make sure that they come to the table.
