This Hawaiian Airlines Flight Took Off in 2018 and Landed in 2017

Is it possible to travel in time? A time travel-like occurrence courtesy a flight from New Zealand to Hawaii will give sci-fi nerds something to talk about for days. The passengers who took-off on January 1, landed on the night of December 31, 2017, just because of a 10-minute delay in departure time of the airlines.

Then, the eight-hour flight landed at its destination of Honolulu, Hawaii at 10:16 a.m. local time on December 31, 2017.

After a flight that lasted nine hours and 10 minutes, it landed in Honolulu, at 10:15 a.m on December 31, 2017 (Hawaiian time).

It's not so complicated and apparently very common. This happened due to a takeoff delay, and a quirk in the time zones that define the world.

EPL: Ashley Young charged by FA, faces three-match ban
Young, 32, appeared to strike Southampton's Dusan Tadic with an elbow in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. Halsey wrote for The Sun : "Young is facing a retrospective three-match ban for this elbow on Tadic".

The anomaly was noticed by an American journalist which, even though quite common, amazed Twitter.

New Zealand is technically only a distance of eight hours by flight to the Hawaiian islands.

Many travelers kicked off 2018 by scoring super-cheap flights to Paris or watching the fireworks in Guadalajara, the year's top trending NYE destination, but one cabin of lucky jet-setters celebrated New Year's by traveling back in time to 2017.

Therefore, the passengers onboard the Airbus A330 got to enjoy their New Year twice - simply by flying to a different country.
