Mike Pence's Aspen Neighbors Hang Up 'Make America Gay Again' Sign

Last December, Mike Pence and his family were preparing for the move into the Naval Observatory, which has been the official home of the Vice President for years.

The daughters said that they were nervous at first when they went to a stone pillar at the end of their driveway to put up the sign because of the Pitkin County deputies and Secret Service agents in front of the house the Pences are staying in.

Pence has notoriously supported legislation that critics say discriminates against gay people. In fact, some neighbors later came out to give the servicemen standing around in the cold some chili and corn muffins.

The banner was hung either Wednesday or Thursday from a stone pillar outside Aspen, according to The Aspen Times.

Pitkin County sheriff's deputy Michael Buglione said Secret Service agents weren't bothered by the sign.

Pence and his family arrived in the Aspen area Tuesday and plan to leave Monday.

"He was real sheepish and thought he might be confronted by the Secret Service or deputies who'd tell him he couldn't do it", DiSalvo said.

He added that the vice president's security have been "really nice".

As governor of IN in 2015, Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a bill that would have given people the right to discriminate against LGBT people for religious reasons.

As Indiana governor, Pence signed into law a controversial bill that advocates said would allow businesses to discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

He has also been accused of being a proponent of "conversion therapy", a practice which purports to change individuals' sexual orientation via spiritual intervention.

Just how anti-LGBT is Mike Pence?

According to a New Yorker report in October, President Donald Trump joked that Pence wanted to "hang" all gay people in a meeting with a legal expert.
