Dominion Energy joins effort to help rebuild electric grid in Puerto Rico

With this new wave of assistance, the total number of power restoration workers on the island will increase to more than 5,500.

The five mobile clinics were held in December at strategically-chosen coliseums and arenas and offered a wide variety of free services including dental care, vision and medical care.

Dominion Energy Virginia - as part of a nationwide initiative - is sending 82 crew member to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico in the new year. "We know the value of mutual assistance partnerships and are proud to step up, and lend our resources and expertise to this initiative to help get Puerto Rico back on its feet".

David Botkins of Dominion Energy says along with the Edison Electric Institute, Fema and The Army Corp of Engineers, they are going to Puerto Rico for the first time ever to tackle the power outages left on the island. He says only now are mainland USA utilities able to be able to get the equipment and people there, and be able to move them where they need to be.
