Beijing hosts first trilateral between China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan FMs

Pence said that Pakistan has for too long provided safe haven to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations.

US leaders have also pressed North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to increase their troop commitments in Afghanistan to help train and advise the Afghan forces and bolster the USA -led counterterrorism fight.

He reiterated that Pakistan will continue its policy of zero tolerance against terrorism, and urged all three countries to take timely action against the terrorists as well as their facilitators.

"We will continue our efforts to fight terrorism".

In a statement on his official Twitter account, the minister said: "Don't blame or threat us, learn from our experience in war against terror...if that is our common objective".

Under heavy security, Pence landed Thursday at Bagram Air Base, the largest USA base in the country, shortly after sunset and then arrived by helicopter in the capital of Kabul to meet with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah.

Asif said that the frustration of U.S. can be clearly seen through statements at the United Nations General Assembly session. He said Pakistan border management to be carried out and refugee issues resolved.

The minister further said that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan, adding that restoration of peace in the region is our common goal.

While addressing the trilateral meeting, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan supports One Belt One Road, adding that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will enhance regional connectivity. President Xi Jinping has sought to present China as a responsible alternative to the U.S., shifting from a longstanding policy of keeping a low profile in worldwide affairs.

In June this year, when Wang Yi was visiting Afghanistan and Pakistan for shuttle diplomacy, the three countries had agreed to establish the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' trilateral dialogue mechanism, which will serve as a platform for enhancing the dialogue and cooperation among the three countries.

Earlier, on the sidlelines of the meeting, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, who was also heading Pakistan in the meeting, had a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, according to Radio Pakistan.
