Rajasthan: FIR registered in bus accident case which killed 33 people

In a tragic incident that happened in state of Rajasthan, 33 people were killed after the bus they were traveling fell off into the Banas river near Dubbi village of Sawai Madhopur district.

Most of the passengers were from other states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Assam.

The vehicle, which was reportedly being driven by a 16-year-old, veered off a bridge in Rajasthan, in the west of the country.

Most of the dead, including the bus driver, drowned, said state officials, and they feared that the death toll could increase.

"The bus ferrying over 50 pilgrims broke the railing of a bridge and fell into Banas river after the driver lost control of the speeding bus following a tyre burst". He tweeted, " Anguished by the bus accident in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district. Seven people were injured.

The accident took place early morning in Soorwal police station area when the bus was destined to reach Lalsot from Sawai Madhopur.

MLA from Sawai Madhopur, Diya Kumari, announced that single road bridge will be double-laned. "I pray for peace for the departed souls and courage for the aggrieved family members to overcome the shock", the chief minister tweeted.
