Careless Reds blew it, admits angry Klopp

There was one last plot twist as Firmino bagged Liverpool's equaliser to cap a breath-taking clash that was nearly as memorable as the Reds' 4-3 victory over Arsenal in the corresponding fixture last season.

Thus two chances for a trophy remain, and either one would also bring the first piece of silverware ever won for Liverpool in the Jurgen Klopp era. Even with the Reds losing Jordan Henderson early in the first half to a hamstring issue, Jürgen Klopp's men were nevertheless dominating the game through goals either side of the half time whistle through the on-fire duo of Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah.

The game is made extra special by the fact that Liverpool are only one point ahead of Arsenal in the table, and Kolasinac is aware of the stakes. Arsenal did just that, scoring three goals in under five minutes before Liverpool answered to draw level.

"We are working hard every day to win something and I am sure we will this year", Salah said.

"[In the second half] we were much better, we were on the front foot".

"We had five minutes where we were very often had obvious problems and individual problems - all the goals". It was the spark that Arsenal needed and they were level three minutes later thanks to a Simon Mignolet howler. We have got to become more boring.

Snow and frigid temperatures expected leading up to Christmas
The mild temperatures are expected to last throughout the Christmas days, with afternoon temperatures between 6 and 9 degrees. The next chance will come on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but confidence in snowfall, let alone accumulation, remains low.

"My job is to think about the performance and that was a winning performance".

"To avoid mistakes completely is impossible - you to have learn from them", said Klopp having refused to comment on a fresh move for Southampton's Virgil van Dijk during next month's transfer window.

Arsenal have talented midfield players, however none of them seem to be defensively adept.

There's a debate when it comes to whether teams lose from eschewing the tactics that get them the lead, but Liverpool was befuddled in the five-minute span that started moments after they took a 2-0 lead.

"The good thing is that overall we did not give up".
