Year old Sandhya Rani Burnt Alive By Former Colleague Who Stalked Her

Sandhya Rani was attacked by her ex-colleague Karthik when she was returning home from work on Thursday evening and she succumbed to the 84 percent burn injuries on Friday morning.

Sumathi also added that the accused also told the police that the victim rejected him saying that she was more lovely and talented than him.

Meanwhile, murder accused Karthik's mother was heart-broken, sad and a little bitter after her son committed the horrific crime.

The deceased Sandhya Rani of Lalaguda, when walking on the road, a man, came from her rear side and poured Kerosene and set her ablaze He later fled from the scene.

Hearing her cries, some passersby rushed to help her and doused the flames.

The victim died at around 7.30 am while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north zone) B Sumathi said.

Sandhya had been working in a commercial establishment for about a year. Several years ago, her father passed away. She informed some senior colleagues including the unit owner D. Jagan Reddy who spoke with Karthik and warned him not to harass and stalk her. She reportedly turned down his proposal explaining that her family values do not permit to marry him.

DCP Sumathi said in a statement, "The couple had an argument on the phone recently when Karthik asked her to quit the job".

"Karthik had no job for the past year and had been drinking a lot". He is said to have developed bad habits and started stalking her. "Investigations have revealed that Karthik had been chasing and harassing Sandhya for months". Police should go tough on the accused - Karthik.

Although, the case has been registered under the section of 307 of IPC & ST/SC Atrocity Act.
