Princess Michael criticised for wearing 'racist' brooch to meet Meghan Markle

While it isn't clear whether or not the princess wore the brooch to deliberately insult the future princess, it is clear that this isn't the first time Princess Michael has been involved in some side-eye worthy behavior when it comes to race.

Princess Michael of Kent, 72, was snapped arriving at Buckingham Palace with a blackamoor brooch pinned to her shoulder.

Princess Michael says she's sorry the racially insensitive brooch she wore to the Queen's lunch - attended by Meghan Markle - was offensive. and we're told she vows never to wear it again. TMZ leaked images of the bridal dress, revealing that if the deal between a palace and a fashion house closes, Meghan will wear a highly feminine creation, a wedding dress that embraces her silhouette and has long sleeves. Hopefully, the rest of her experience wasn't as eyebrow-raising as it must have been when she met with Princess Michael.

Queen Elizabeth's 33-year-old grandson, Harry, fifth-in-line to the throne, and Markle, who stars in the US TV legal drama Suits, announced their engagement last month.

Markle, whose mother is black, will be the first self-identified biracial person to become a high-ranking member of the royal family when she marries Harry in May.

It's not the first time that Princess Michael has been accused of racism.

In a statement to People and The Daily Mail Friday, a representative for the royal said, "The brooch was a gift and has been worn many times before". The publication also notes that this is not the Princess' first offence in the race department, she allegedly told a group of Black diners in NY to "go back to the colonies" in the year 2004.

"I travelled on African buses".

However, blogger Lainey Gossip noticed something about one royal in particular attending the event: Princess Michael of Kent'sand her brooch.

Prince Harry defended Meghan Markle a year ago against gross media reporting out of England.

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have not left an official comment. And this is why, even if you want to call her a scheming prince-digger, I'm here for it.
