Hardik Patel Alleges EVM Tampering

As the chances of BJP's victory looked brighter by noon, scores of mediapersons gathered outside the residence of Hardik Patel, seeking the reaction of the 23-year-old Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader.

Earlier in the day, Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti assured no EVMs were tampered with as far as the Gujarat Assembly polls are concerned. EVMs can be hacked. In Ahmedabad, Congress won 2 out of 7 Patidar dominated seats, 10 out 18 in North Gujarat and 3 out of 10 in South and Central Gujarat.

According to the PAAS leader, there is a close fight between BJP and the Congress party in the six key constituencies.

No political party has complained to the Election Commission about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) being tampered with in the recently concluded Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, results of which were declared on Monday. In a series of tweets yesterday, he alleged that an Ahmedabad-based firm had made preparations to hack the source code of 5,000 EVMs with the help of 140 software engineers.

Gandhi spoke, outgoing Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressed her party members for the last time as the party president. He was appointed as the party general secretary in 2007 and was elevated as its vice president in January 2013.

Using his twitter handle, the PAAS convenor said, "What I am saying sound amusing but no one is concentrating on it". And said people of Gujarat still need to be aware of the EVM tampering as there is the only difference of 1000 to 2000 votes between BJP and Congress.

"The EVMs from which the candidates were winning with 300 votes, after recounting the winning candidate lost by a margin of over 6,000 vote".

This is not the first time that Patel has raised the point of EVM tampering.
