Arsene Wenger "confident" of new Mesut Ozil contract

Arsene Wenger

Ozil, 29, struck a wonder volley victor against Newcastle on Saturday, a strike keeper Petr Cech compared to Zinedine Zidane's goal in the 2002 Champions League final for Real Madrid.

However, the club's top brass are keen to reward the attacker for forcing his way into Arsene Wenger's first-team plans this season with a bumper new contract.

And asked if this was the best he has seen of Ozil in his four years at the Emirates, boss Wenger replied: "Yes. For him, the beginning of January is more likely", Wenger told the media at a press conference in London ahead of his side's Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with West Ham United.

"Always your heartrate goes down when he has the ball".

Ramsey has made a very promising start to the season for the Gunners scoring three goals and picking up eight assists for his teammates in what has been one of his most successful seasons to date.

The Broncos fumbled the ball, and Ducks linebacker Troy Dye scooped it up and returned it for an incredible 86-yard touchdown. OR was finally on the board, but it managed to squeak out one more stellar scoring play before the half ended.

After several attempts to negotiate new contracts, the Arsenal duo have refused to sign deals committing their future to the Emirates.

Arsenal's No1 added: "I think if you come under pressure then you want to respond in the right way, which is on the pitch".

But Wenger feels Ozil is now playing the best football he has seen from the World Cup victor since he joined.

Wenger confirmed he will rotate his squad significantly tomorrow, saying, "the players who will start are basically all global players, so that's why I think [squad rotation] makes sense".
