'90210' Star Jason Priestley Says He Punched Harvey Weinstein In The '90s

Both Sorvino and Judd are two of at least 80 women who have accused the producer of sexual assault and harassment.

The spokesperson said no blacklisting had taken place, and that both Judd and Sorvino had been cast in other Miramax productions like Frida, Crossing Over and Mimic. Miramax's comments led Jackson to avoid considering them for the films, he said. Jackson went on to say that he now suspects that he was "fed false information about both of these talented women - and as a direct result their names were removed from our casting list".

The Lord of the Rings trilogy was initially in development with Weinstein's Miramax company, before being passed to New Line Cinema.

"While Bob and Harvey Weinstein were executive producers of the film, they had no input into the casting whatsoever", the statement reads. Harvey told me I had to leave...

As for Sorvino, the statement explains that they did work together, on Guillermo Del Toro's "Mimic", and implies that Weinstein would not attempt to derail her career because she was, at the time, dating Quentin Tarantino, one of the company's most high-profile directors.

In a statement through a publicist, Weinstein denied the allegations that he was involved in blacklisting Sorvino and Judd, saying that the casting for Lord of the Rings was carried out by New Line Cinema - not Miramax.

Los Angeles Dodgers Acquire Matt Kemp, Sign Tom Koehler
He leaves Atlanta having batted.276/.318/.463, but, for the first time in his major league career he did not steal any bases. The trade appears to be an attempt by the Dodgers to shed payroll, and Kemp's second go-round in L.A. could be short-lived.

"I was interested in casting Mira Sorvino in BAD SANTA, but every time I mentioned her over the phone to the Weinsteins, I'd hear a CLICK".

Harvey Weinstein's name still appears in the credits of the Lord of the Rings films for contractual reasons, Jackson told Stuff. "They weren't the type of guys I wanted to work with - so I haven't".

Speaking to American website Deadline, the 56-year-old director said Weinstein's assertion that the pair's "blacklisting" couldn't be true because (film studio) "New Line cast the movie" was a "deflection from the truth". "I'm really sorry, Mira", Zwigoff wrote.

A spokesman for Weinstein said: "Mr. Weinstein has nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson".

At the weekend, both Sorvino and Judd thanked the director for coming forward and confirming what they had always believed was the truth.
