Honor 7X launches in the U.S. for $199, pre-orders start today

The Honor 7x is officially launched in India and it comes in two variants, with quite a lot of changes from what was its predecessor, the Honor 6x. Honor is calling the Honor 7X the "best budget smartphone of 2018", while it is a bit pre-mature for us to agree with Honor there, it is definitely a contender for that title. It is priced at €499 (£449) and will be available in Midnight Black and Navy Blue (no word on United States pricing or any future launch for the Gold or Red versions just yet, sorry!).

Boasting the Honor Magic AI engine and a 5.99in 18:9 screen on a metal unibody was unveiled as a "just one more thing" at the much hyped Honor 7X launch. It is just 7 mm thick at the sides.

In addition to the View 10, Honor also announced the more affordable Honor 7X, which has a 5.93-inch screen with an 18:9 ratio and an edge-to-edge screen. The fingerprint has been shifted to the back below the camera.

The talking point however is not the screen or its build, it's what's under the hood. The smartphone is powered by the 2.36Ghz Kirin 659 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The sky's the limit, but at launch, we're seeing it put to use in discerning between different types of photo subjects, as well as quickly translating written text up to 300% faster than other phones without a dedicated NPU.

Oklahoma QB, Lake Travis Alumnus Baker Mayfield Named Heisman Finalist
He's led Oklahoma to an 12-1 mark thus far, which included a Big 12 championship and a birth in the College Football Playoff. The Sooner quarterback finished with the second most passing yards in the country, piling up 4,340 through the air.

The phone supports expandable storage and features a USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jack. The Honor 7X does have a dual-camera setup, with a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter.

Around the front, a 13-megapixel selfie camera, combined with the Kirin 970's image processing chops, can simulate backgrounds for your selfies, replacing that drab indoor backdrop with exotic scenery. Powering the AI smartphone is a 3,750 mAh battery that comes with Honor's SuperCharge technology for fast charging. Speaking of which, the Honor 7X is running on Android Nougat, with EMUI 5.1. The phone will be available starting December 7th at 12PM and Honor India Store. The set price is Euro 499.9 /449.99 GBP for those, which in the USA would likely translate to $499, placing it in a direct clash with the OnePlus 5T.

Other AI based features on the Honor View 10 include an AI-accelerated translator and Smart Tips, apart from intelligent scene and object recognition, as well as motion detection that will adjust camera settings. The phone also can be charged up to 50 percent in 30 minutes.
