Oklahoma QB, Lake Travis Alumnus Baker Mayfield Named Heisman Finalist

The senior quarterback has completed 71.0 percent of his passes, throwing for 4,340 yards, 41 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

Jackson is the fifth player to win the award and return as a finalist the following year, joining Oklahoma's Jason White (2003-04), Southern Cal's Matt Leinart (2004-05), Florida's Tim Tebow (2008-09), and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel (2013-14). I still have another game to play this year and finish the season strong.

Whether Jackson wins or not, he will still be profoundly remembered as one of the best players to ever step onto a college football field, and that is truly saying something. He's led Oklahoma to an 12-1 mark thus far, which included a Big 12 championship and a birth in the College Football Playoff. A favorite for the Heisman Trophy just a few short weeks ago, Barkley was snubbed by not being named one of the three finalists for the award. Jackson, who can become only the second two-time victor of the Heisman, led the nation in total offense with an average of 411.0 yards per game.

LaVar Ball won't thank Trump - but he did send him shoes
As of now, it certainly looks like the Ball's affiliation with UCLA is over. "I'm not sitting back and waiting", Ball said. However, a source at UCLA told ESPN's Arash Markazi that this is probably the end for the Ball family at the school.

Jackson has the chance to become just the second two-time Heisman victor, joining Ohio State's Archie Griffin (1974 and 1975), but Mayfield, the 2016 runner-up, is the heavy favorite. In three seasons at Louisville, Jackson ranks fourth in school history with 8,872 career passing yards, overtaking Miami's Jacory Harris (2008-11) for 18th on the ACC's career list. He averaged more than 129 rushing yards in his first four games, including a season-high 211 yards against Iowa.

Love was second in the FBS in rushing with 1,973 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.

The Sooner quarterback finished with the second most passing yards in the country, piling up 4,340 through the air. While his rushing numbers began to dip against defenses looking to stop the run, he still maintained a lead thanks to his versatility, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns while being a major threat as a receiver.
